ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL AND GOVERNANCE

Our business is committed to Environmental, Social Responsibility and Governance (ESG).

Since our founding in 1882, Owens & Minor has remained committed to our teammates, customers, and communities where we conduct business. We recognize the need to identify, prioritize, and manage ESG impacts from our operations.

In 2021, we completed our first ESG materiality assessment to identify and prioritize topics most relevant to our key stakeholders. Using the results of this assessment, we developed a framework to align ESG risks and opportunities with our overall business strategy. Our ESG Framework forms the basis of our program, integrating the priorities identified in our materiality assessment into key aspects of our operations. This framework is grounded in our Mission and emphasizes the importance of incorporating ESG commitments into our culture and values.

Owens & Minor incorporate ESG considerations into our strategic decision-making across our organization. Championing ESG is a key pillar of our Corporate Strategic Plan that will shape our journey ahead.

Our ESG Focus Areas include the following priorities focused on expanding our influence as a leader in the healthcare industry:

  • Ensuring Environmental Stewardship
  • Caring for Our Customers and Community
  • Operating Responsibly
  • Empowering our Teammates

These four focus areas underscore the commitment among Owens & Minor’s executive team and all teammates to demonstrate and exemplify the organization’s IDEAL Values – Integrity, Development, Excellence, Accountability, and Listening. The focus areas are further underscored through the activities of the recently launched Owens & Minor Foundation. Announced June 7, 2021, the Owens & Minor Foundation is committed to building healthier communities through engagement and financial support of trusted charitable and civic organizations.

Owens & Minor has earned recognition among the environmental community for its commitment to ESG initiatives.

Owens & Minor 2020, 2021 and 2022 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Reports are below.

“Growing sustainably and operating responsibly has long been part of Owens & Minor’s DNA, and we continue to prioritize activities that will positively impact our customers, communities and teammates across the continuum of healthcare. We look forward to building on this legacy and further deepening the reach and impact of our ESG efforts across the organization.”

ESG Governance

To effectively manage the implementation of our ESG strategy, Owens & Minor developed an ESG governance structure designed to define our framework and deliver on our commitments. The Governance & Nominating Committee of the Owens & Minor Board of Directors reviews and has oversight of the Company’s ESG programs and practices. The Governance & Nominating Committee and full Board regularly receive reports on the progress of our ESG program. An ESG Governing Board, composed of members of the Executive Leadership Team and the Vice President of Corporate Relations, assists the Governance & Nominating Committee in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities with respect to ESG efforts; defines ESG priorities, objectives, and strategy; and oversees and coordinates the implementation of ESG initiatives. An ESG Steering Committee, composed of top-line leadership from business segments across the organization, implements ESG priorities and recommends policies and practices that conform with our ESG strategy.
